Seminar Information
This seminar will help students in being creative during therapy, to help them achieve personal integrity, greater freedom of choice, less dependence, to be more in touch with their own needs and learn how to share and communicate more openly with their family unit. This seminar will be based on Experiential Family Therapy where students will be going hands on and actually experiencing the process while in the seminar. This will be an active seminar. Participants will learn how to wake the sleeping emotional system and dismantle the mental guards. We will be presenting a live couple and using your audience participation to demonstrate some various exercises used within this experiential process. Students will learn how to face their inhibitions and open the lines of communication by facing conflict rather than avoiding it without the fear of getting hurt or hurting the other person. The seminar is designed to enhance the growth of all participants as therapists. Participants will be moved out of their comfort zones. If you are not willing to experience the anxiety associated with growth, this seminar is not for you.
Students will be asked to push themselves to emotionally delve into their own family systemic dynamics through experiential exercises. The students learn through action!

This action can, at times, be scary or at least anxiety provoking. You must be prepared to examine yourself and your fellow participants through sharing and receiving feedback. The seminar activities will range from calm and relaxing meditation to in-your-face confrontation on issues that the professor and other students witness. The seminar will be an emotional roller coaster if you allow yourself to trust in the process. The goal is personal growth. You cannot grow if you do not try new things. Because of the sensitive material that may be discussed in the seminar, confidentiality is held in the highest regard. The class agrees by contract to respect each other by not discussing the contents of the classroom outside of the classroom as well as not to discuss the information disclosed to anyone else. Everyone is expected to participate. Participants can go as emotionally deep as they choose; however, it is expected that respect and privacy is given freely to others in the class who are delving into their family issues to learn and grow. This seminar can be emotionally and physically exhausting. Be prepared to be challenged to push yourself even when you don't yet understand the process. Remember the goal is growth. The growth comes through action.
